IIT JEE is the most sought after engineering entrance examination in India. IIT JEE is organised in two stages – Main & Advance. Nearly 12 lakh students appear for IIT JEE Main exam every year out of which only 15-16% qualify for IIT JEE Advance. Around 35,000 qualify for IIT admissions and there are only around 11,000 seats all together.
Competition is intense and students need to realize their true potential before the exam itself. Important for IIT JEE 2017 onwards : Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has notified following changes in the JEE pattern.
1. There shall be no weightage for 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination.
2. To qualify for admission in the IITs / NITs / IIITs and such other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI) whose admissions are based on JEE (Advanced) / JEE (Main) ranks, candidates should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
It is thus very important today that students score very well in Board results along with preparation of IIT-JEE or other competitive entrance tests.
